no longer recognizes my Apple tv
What do you mean by that? Just the labeling, or no functionality at all? Does the status light come on on the Apple TV?

Ok. I would suggest using the supplied remote in order to rule out an issue with the other remote. You can also try disconnecting/reconnecting the Apple TV to force a reboot. If it still persists then you will have to go forward with a restore.
Not a problem. Just a few last questions. Was that the full error message? Was there a number associated with the message? It may well be hardware related, but just want to make sure all bases are covered.
Hello,
Please refer to the following Apple Support document.
Apple HD tried all those port doesn’t recognize it as an apple tv
Is your issue solved now?
No problem exists. Light comes, blinks then stays solid. Tv says the slot is empty.
Am image seems to be frozen when I plug it into a port but will not allow any interaction. A return to factory default would probably solve the problem but I cant do it
So you see the main menu of the Apple TV appear, which shows all your apps, but you are unable to navigate? Have you tried charging the remote?
My remote is a universal remote for my apple tv and my Samsung TV and my firestick. It has batteries and they are new. Thanks for all the ideas.
I don’t know how to do a restore without the apple tv connected to a device
If the light comes on and is solid then the Apple TV would appear to be working, and the issue would be more with the connection to the HDTV. If you have tried all available ports on the Samsung then the best suggestion to verify is to test on another TV.
The remote uses a rechargeable internal battery, not user replaceable batteries like the previous model. Charging is done using the included lightning to USB cable. If you are having trouble navigating then I suggest you let it charge to ensure it has a full battery, typically that takes around 2.5 hours.
What image are you seeing?
The image is the screen of all my old apps that are “fixed” so that there is no way to interact with them. Factory default would make me able to interact again, I think.
