Why do I see a red circle 🚫 when attempting to stream a video from rumble.com or other sites
I have the same issue. Streaming from my iPad Pro to my Apple TV. I can watch other apps on the Apple TV and stream YouTube but when I try to stream a video from a website I get the 🚫 symbol at the bottom left of the tv screen.

Why did that work? The site was set to auto, but all of the available options were standards, 240p, 480p, 720p, 1080p. I selected 1080p, and all of a sudden it started working. Why would any of those not be supported on a AppleTV device?
I am using an Apple TV 4k 2022 software tvOS 16.1.1 (20k80). I am attempting to airplay and/or mirror from an iPhone 13 Pro Max software 16.1.1 When I attempt to airplay and/or mirror I get a blank black screen on my television with a red 'prohibited' symbol: circle with a diagonal slash, same as original question in this thread. Fox Sports 1 app will not work, other media apps will not work. YouTube works.
I really dont know why. At first i just change the resolution of the movie and it worked. Than i changed the 1080p hrz version on the apple tv and all issues were gong.

Actually, it really worked. On the iPhone I chose the 1080hd option instead of the auto which was set in the player and it did stream the content via AirPlay. WayneLowV needs to be upvoted to the most helpful answer. Thank you!
I don't know what you mean by settings/video audio. On the iPhone or on the Apple TV? And exactly where in those devices?
I tried changing the resolution on the Apple TV to 1080p, and that didn't work. On the iPhone, if you mean change the resolution in the app that is playing the video (in my case SVT), there is no option to change the resolution. Is there another place to change the resolution on the iPhone?
Usually I can mirror shows just fine. But if I change the usual sequence of turning the function on I get the red prohibition sign as well. And once it's there it won't go away. I may log out, unplug etc. but the circle will be there. A few weeks later, when I try again, it suddenly works again. Strange, eh? My cell as well as the apple box are always up to date.
This is really puzzling: it works and then it doesn't and then after some abstinence it woks again.....
Trying to play BBC iplayer through airplay, same issue. This stupid little red circle.. Very annoying!
What do you change and what do you mean by choosing the proper video output?
It was working fine until a week ago??
They don’t have a fix for it and don’t care enough to reply.
I am also getting this issue I have a iPhone 11 Pro and iPad 11 pro along with Apple TV 4K. All are currently updated to iOS 16.6 This issue just started a few months ago. But I can airplay just fine to my Roku tv. It’s only happening with my Apple TV when doing videos from websites.
I suspect this is DRM related. I've only seen that tiny red null sign when trying to stream from a www site that streams a few Cable News stations, surrounded by adverts, that people usually pay subscription fees to view.
My Apple TV 4K refuses to play these 'pirate streams' via AirPlay (initiated from MacOS or iPadOS), whereas the native AirPlay 2 receiver on my LG TV cheerfully played it.
Escalated to support and an apple “senior advisor” has said that this a problem of numerous websites and not airplay.
It took them one sec to listen to the problem and say “yep contact all the websites you have a problem with”. Like immediately. This is despite saying that it happened immediately after ios 16 update.
I never contacted apple support, but lol. To dare call them anything senior is beyond funny. This is what we’re paying $$$ for?
Just another person here with the same issue. The original person starting the thread asked about this months ago. Why no update or solution?
There is a lot of people with this problem and I do not see a fix from Apple. Why is it that Apple is not responding to this request?
