Why do I see a red circle 🚫 when attempting to stream a video from rumble.com or other sites
I have the same issue. Streaming from my iPad Pro to my Apple TV. I can watch other apps on the Apple TV and stream YouTube but when I try to stream a video from a website I get the 🚫 symbol at the bottom left of the tv screen.
Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities, Joe Livingston,
If we understand your post correctly, you're trying use AirPlay to stream video to your Apple TV and getting a red no symbol. We’d like to help.
We see you were viewing "If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay-compatible device - Apple Support" which was a great place to start.
Let us know what you find.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
I tried every solution mentioned and still get the black screen with a red circle. It’s really strange. It only affects my HD model AppleTV. My 4k streams fine from iPhone. BUT….neither will stream video from iPad to AppleTV. To add to the confusion, on the AppleTV that does have the issue, it only appears with the latest videos added to a site. Anything earlier than a couple weeks ago streams fine.
Same issue, Apple TV 4K and iPhone 14 Pro, both on the latest software. Trying to stream downloaded episodes from HBO Max. Everything appears to be working except the red crosshatched circle. Why isn’t Apple replying to these posts with a resolution.
I called and this helped us! Make sure your Apple ID is the same on your device you’re mirroring from and the Apple TV. Look under General settings on Apple TV for which one is set up there. We got rid of the red circle. Finally.
You can also change it on the apple tv. You just need to choose the proper video output
Just change your Resolution in the settings/video audio

I have the same issue - using Apple TV 4K with tvOS16.2. Airplay from MacBook Pro Ventura 13.1 or iPhone XS Max 16.2 results in the red circle on video from certain sites via Safari but it is not consistent. Screen mirroring from the Mac works fine.
Having the exact same issue. Just got the 14 pro max and didn’t have any issues w the 8, but now I get this little circle w a line thru it when I try to AirPlay. Have tried resetting everything and nothing words.
One possibility is that the website has blocked airplay. If you know how to inspect the webpage and you see the following in the video player tag it means the web developers have explicitly blocked airplay:
x-webkit-airplay="deny"
So it is supported in the video output on your airplay. Just choose the correct output
WHERE?!?!?!?!?!?!?! does not help if i change resolution on apple tv, PLEASE HELP, have had this problem for 1 year now..............
Yes - didn’t work
Same issue with me too.
the same site works for me later on. It’s an intermittent issue. If that were the case then I wouldn’t be able to stream at all.
the only website I know that doesn’t allow streaming is Netflix. Every other site works but sparingly.
Using iOS 17 on Apple tv. After logging in successfully to a to a particular streaming service( BBC iPlayer) I was getting the red circle trying to access programs.
On the Apple TV I went to System/Restart and I was the able to stream shows again.
I don't know whether it was a fluke or not.
