I get the following message every time when I run iMovie and my Mac gets overheating: "The operation couldn't be completed. Operation not permitted. (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:1)". I don't know if iMovie or overheating is the problem as this has never happen before. I have to restart the computer to get the internet works again but it happen again as I use Imovie.

The first think to do is uninstall CleanMyMac and Symantec software according to the developer's instructions. Do a Google search to find the instructions. Once you've done that fou can check to see if you've removed all of the files by downloading and running Find Any File to search for any files with the application's name  and the developer's name in the file name.  For example for CleanMyMac software you'd do the following 2 searches:

1 - Name contains cleanmymac

2 - Name contains macpaw

Any files that are found can be dragged from the search results window to the Desktop or Trash bin in the Dock for deletion.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

There is no reason to install or run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps. They are not necessary and are detrimental to system and application performance.

Hi,

thank you for your replying.

I have tried safe mode and it seem fine.

I then download Etrecheck as you have mentioned since I have used optimizing by CleanMyMacX.

I tried to give Etrecheck full access but some how it didn't work. On my "Security & Privacy" shows that I have checked and allowed both "full disk access" and "files and folders" to Etrecheck but Etrecheck itself doesn't show that, and it keeps bring me to "Security & Privacy" window.

Could it be that I used the free version of Etrecheck?

as said, I ran Etrecheck while full drive access is disabled, I don't know if this will be helpful in anyway.

I also removed norton anti virus that I got free from Comcast but it still hasn't solved the problem.

Thank you in advance

Boot into Safe Mode (How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support) by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists.  Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

Have you run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps? If you have download and run Etrecheck. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Copy the report

and use the Add Text button to include the report in your reply. How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting Large Amounts of Text, i.e. an Etrecheck Report

IMPORTANT:

Before running Etrecheck assign Full Disk Access to Etrecheck in the app's Privacy preference pane so that it can get additional information from the Console and log files for the report:

ALSO IMPORTANT:

Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine the root of the problem.
