Cleaning Apple Watch Milanese loop band

I have seen quite a few questions about cleaning the Milanese loop band. I have a gold one. Apple’s suggestion to use a jeweler’s cloth and gently wipe is excellent. My situation - living in Florida and wearing the band a lot, the band gets feeling oily and had a small stain that wouldn’t wipe off. Then I remembered toothpaste — which was recommended to me years ago to clean my gold and silver jewelry. I laid the band (off the Watch) on a flat surface and rubbed toothpaste lightly onto the band with my fingers, both sides, then rinsed with water. I did not use a toothbrush. It is beautiful! Shiny and clean and no stain!
