Mac Mail App rejecting password

My Mac Mail App does not accept my password on my macbook pro.

I am running macOS Catalina 10.15.2


My mail does work on my iphone and ipad. The issue is my macbook pro.

I found the following in discussions and support and have tried both but it did not work.

I understand from your question that your mail server is not accepting your password. I can certainly help you with this!


I would suggest resetting your password for your mail account and try again. Even through the password may not be incorrect and you could be typing it in right, it is a good first troubleshooting step to get your issue resolved.

Hello Jameson,

Thank you for trying to help, but the problem is NOT the server or password, I CAN log in and out of my email through the cPanel hosting site, and it works using the mail app on my other devices. The problem seems to be specifically on my computer. The server has been reset, passwords have been reset, yet still the Mail App on my macbook rejects my credentials.


Iʻve figured out a work around and am using Gmail instead of the Mail App.
