Camera roll /icloud issues

i recently got a new phone the iphone SE 2020 and i signed into my iCloud account and I downloaded all my pictures from my camera roll on other devices onto my current new phone they appeared and i was glad and this morning i woke up and they were all gone! I need answers and suggestions because i had some really special pictures in there and i dont want them gone
