I am trying to export a chart from numbers to jpg. Seems easy enough by am running into walls. Can you help?

You also can just click the chart, copy it (via command-c), and then paste it anywhere you need it.

Take a screen shot of the chart, placing it on the Clipboard.
Launch Preview and press command-N to create a New file from the Clipboard.
Export the result as JPEG.
Done.
Example:
To take the screen shot:
Place the pointer at the top left corner of the area you want to capture.
Press shift-control-command-4.
The pointer will change from an arrow to a crosshairs icon.
Drag the crosshairs to the bottom right corner of the area to be captured, the release the mouse button.
You'll hear a 'camera click' as the image is copied to the Clipboard.
Launch Preview, and follow notes above to create and save the chart image.
