family sharing and paying for apps

Hi

my daughter has credit on her apple id account, and has asked via family sharing for an app, which I have approved, however it wont let us select the amount in her account but is asking for credit card to pay - why is this? can we not use the money on her account?

Billy,

If she is a Member of the family group, all her purchases will be billed to the Organizer. See the following document: Family purchases and payments - Apple Support and note that:

"Here’s how shared purchases work

Any time a family member makes a new purchase, it's billed directly to the family organizer's account. That means the family organizer pays for any App Store and other digital purchases of the family members. "
