Normally I select the audio track, cmd-c and then cmd-v to copy it.
The new track is usually offset from the original and needs to be dragged into position.
Is there a quicker way that ensures the track is automatically aligned?
With Snapping ON, select a clip, hold the Option key and drag up or down and a new identical clip should be created.

It should not be offset if you place the playhead or skimmer right at the start of the existing audio...
You are correct but sometimes the duplicate is offset for no apparent reason.
