How to sync your own music?

How to sync my own music (music not present in Apple Music Library) from iTunes 12.8.2.3 on Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6 to my iPhone.

I finally bit the bullet on Apple Music but as soon as I've subbed my music just evaporated from my iphone. I didn't know what is happening so I opened iTunes on my Mac for the first time in over a year and it asked me to sync it to icloud and so i did. However there is a lot of music in my library which Apple doesn't have.

That's what my iPhone says.

However when I open iTunes prefs there is no such option

what do I do?

Hey there Sosskokov,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues syncing the music you’ve made to Apple Music and subsequently, your iPhone. I’ll be happy to help with this.

Looking at your preferences, you do have iCloud Music Library enabled which is the same as Sync Library in more recent versions of macOS. So this option is enabled. You can read more about this here:

Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music

Next, go to Settings > Music on your iPhone and make sure Sync Library is enabled there.

You may need to add your music back to iTunes on your Mac. After this, it should upload your tracks to iCloud and sync with your iPhone. If it runs into any issues uploading your Music to iCloud, check this article for info on what the issue is:

Identify cloud status icons in your music library on your Mac or PC

Regards.
