how to add to pages from a drive
I am trying to open some old files that contain recipes from 10 years ago into Pages, but I am having a problem doing so. The files were save from a dell computer on to a drive.

It's not totally clear what your problem is. Can you not find the files to try to open them? Can you find them but when you try to open them it doesn't work?
If the latter, try the free app LibreOffice, which can open a lot of different kinds of files produced by Windows stuff.
