Changing language when logged out.
I restarted my computer in a foreign (Asian) language. I cannot log in with this language. How do I change the language back to English so I can log in?

What happens when you type asdfg? If you get åß∂ƒ© or ÅÍÎÏ˝ it indicates your machine thinks the option key or option and shift keys are always held down.
Try an external keyboard (doesn't have to be from Apple). If it works ok, the internal one could well be damaged.

Tom, you are right. Apple support helped me log in and it was not a foreign language, it was a keyboard typing random symbols. Even though I have managed to log back in, I cannot get the keyboard to type anything but seemingly random symbols. It looks normal in the Preferences/keyboard/input sources, but when I type I get gibberish. I tried several languages to no avail.
What language exactly? Normally your keyboard layout should not change just because you changed the system language. Is your keyboard at login no longer US or whatever it was to start with?
Thank you, you solved it. What a nightmare. Now I need to go find a Bluetooth keyboard till I can get this fixed.
