502 Bad Gateway-Safari error whe using search

How can I SIMPLY correct a 502 Bad Gateway error using Safari search? I t started about a week ago. It works when I select a bookmarked website but not when I type in a name i.e. Macy's. I have a MacBook Pro (late 2013) w/MacOS Mojave 10.14.6 and Safari 13.0.2. Please keep it as simple as possible. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Bill

And on my macOS 10.14.6 (18G4032) Late 2013 iMac, I see this Software Update panel, whether I click menu : About This Mac : Software Update, or visit System Preferences : Software Update panel directly:

When the update for Safari 13.1 became available, it was a separate entry below the Catalina information above, and could be installed separately without invoking the Catalina installation. As the Late 2013 MBP is capable of installing Catalina, I am puzzled that you are not getting this panel above.

VikingOSX,

Perhaps I wasn't explicit enough.,I was simply using Macy's as an example only. Anything I have searched for in Safari the 502 appears. Are you referring to Safari's System Preferences? I am confused. I clicked the Apple and went to About This Mac and clicked on the Software Update button. It said

In Safari Preferences there is no such option. I want to use Safari as my primary search engine not Google Chrome. I hope I haven't confused you more. Please help. I'm also having an issue with Mail. I have to Force Quit it lately. That's for another time.

Thanks,

Bill

Yes, both by clicking on Apple logo going into About this Mac & from Launchpad. It gives me the message I screen shot in VikingOSXs' message. Let me ask this. By looking at this screen shot does my Machine have the capability of upgrading the OS? I am always reluctant in upgrading the MacOS because I heard that it sometimes causes more issues. Any other suggestions and advice the OS update. I appreciate it.

Thanks,

Bill
