My esc key is not exiting fullscreen anymore on any of my browsers including safari and chrome. It wont work on youtube or othe video platforms but still works on programs like VLC. What am i missing here?

Use control+command+F (⌃⌘F) which is the normal means for entering and exiting full screen mode on the Mac.
