Macbook Air Server Error Message

I have a 2015 Macbook Air that I am trying to get going again for my kid's school work. Every time I try to sign in with my apple id, I receive the message "Couldn't sign in because of a server error. Try signing in again." I am able to logon as a guest no problem but I cannot login with my account info. Please help!

I understand from your question that you are unable to sign in to your Mac with your Apple ID. I can certainly help you with this!


Since you're using your Apple ID to log in to your Mac, are you able to log in to the Apple ID website without any issues: Manage your Apple ID


If you're unable to log in, try changing the password for your Apple ID, then try signing in to the website again, then try logging in to your Mac. If you are able to log in to the Apple ID website without any issues, try starting your Mac up using safe mode to see if you're able to log in this way: How to use safe mode on your Mac


The previous article issue will provide steps to take depending on whether or not the issue continues in safe mode. Additionally, you may also want to try changing your user account password if you're still unable to log in following these steps: Change or reset the password of a macOS user account
