Legacy system extension notice and what does it mean?

I am using Kaspersky and have been for years. I like it; banners are unknown when I use any browser. I use antivirus ever since I downloaded some kind of malware that wiped out a hard drive completely. So I like to be extra sure. That's why I bought an Apple in the first place.

What kind of updates/fixes/ etc should I be looking for when I go on their website? They want to sell, of course but I have already paid for my service. If I have to contact them, what do I ask for? Not specific products but in a general sense so I know what to do to get a proper update from them?

I am not selling anything it's just that I want to know what to look for so I get what I need in protection.

The article I read didn't exactly say anything specifically therefore I feel I am left with half an answer. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Since the release of Catalina, older system extensions installed by third-party software are referred to as "legacy" because they do not meet Catalina's protocol and/or security requirements. The third-party programmer needs to replace them with new extensions that do meet Catalina's requirements. Contact the software developer about the problem.

macOS has anti-malware software built into the system. There really is not much need for third-party software. The problem you had is one that anti-malware software cannot protect, namely, you downloading unknown software from an unknown site, and installing it. Learn to avoid doing that, and you won't have malware problems.

Thanks for the advice. After the aforementioned malware on an old Microsoft PC I made it a priority to keep up my antivirus. I will contact Kaspersky about this matter. Even though there is not much need to put antivirus on a Mac I think it’s a good investment just in case. Also I have an external hard drive for those irreplaceable items such as old photos and tax returns. Can I get an antivirus on my external hard drive through my Mac?
