Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Mac Mini Hard Drive Location uper/lower?

I have two Mac Minis Model A1347 -

One is Late 2012

One is Mid 2011

I have figured out how to identify which position (upper or lower) the current hard drives are located.

Apple Menu > About this Mac > click on System Report

In the System Report under Hardware, select SATA/SATA Express

Highlight your hard drive

In the report for the hard drive you have highlighted, look for "Bay Name:"

To the right of Bay Name, it will indicate either Lower or Upper.

Note:

Lower is closer to the bottom (black plastic base with the two divots) of the Mini

Upper is closest to the top of the mini, where the Apple logo is.

I hope this helps someone else. I looked everywhere for this information and found a suggestion to use Disk Utility and look for the Connection ID for after selecting your drive. This did not work on either of my two minis.
