No Audio from Dell 2719DC Monitor

I am not able to get audio output from my Dell U2719DC, connected to my MacBook Air (new). elect4ing "Display Port" it says "this device has no output controls."

Any idea how to use the monitor's audio with my MacBook Air?

When I try to play any audio - podcast; youtube; music - I hear nothing. I have checked that the monitor audio is not muted and everything is set correctly. So my question is, does the USB-C cable connection carry audio as well as video and data? If so, why am I not able to hear anything? I should mention that in the audio setting it lists my output device as a DisplayPort type. Shouldn't that be USB-C instead?

No audio when connecting my MacBook Pro to my monitor thru USB C There's no audio coming out of my monitor when I connect it to my MacBook Pro using USB C. I went to the Sounds settings to check and it only says DisplayPort. Also went to the Audio MIDI Setup app and it says there's 0 ins / 2 outs which confirms that my monitor has a speaker right? I'm just wondering why there's no audio coming out of it. Am I doing something wrong?
