Foreign subtitles

On my Macbook, I have many subtitle options however for the same show going through apple Tv I have limited options (Only 3 or 4 countries). More foreign subtitles exist but how do I get them on my TV?

Not sure. I would think that all supported devices would have matched features as much as possible, but it is theoretically possible that there are differences with other devices. I don’t remember this issue being reported before on this forum, though.

Thank you, Apple TV+, that is what I was looking for.

Are you playing directly from the Apple TV box, or are you streaming (AirPlay) from the MacBook?

I can’t replicate your issue. On my Apple TV 4K set-top box, I can select any of the ~40 subtitles, including Japanese, same as on my MacBook Pro.

What show is this about? Through which content provider (iTunes Store, Apple TV+, or other)?

Downloaded copies may have limited subtitles compared to streaming the same title. It shouldn’t depend on the playback device, though.

The provider is Apple TV, the black box, and the shows are apple original ones. So for example, Defending Jacob, on my apple tv app on my macbook has Japaneses subtitles, however going through Apple TV on the my TV has only a few options.
