Keychain passwords gone since 10.15.4 update

iCloud keychain data seems to be all messed up since the latest update to 10.15.4. I noticed some days ago that some of my safari login items were gone from Safari Passwords and Keychain Access. I logged out from my Apple ID and back in again both on my MacBook and iPhone and now even a larger amount of passwords are gone. Everything is set up to be synched with iCloud but for some reason only old data is being picked up. I have no back-ups since I was relying on iCloud for the storage of all my passwords so I have no other way of retrieving my logins.

For Mac OS catalina 10.15.4

When you click on sign out iCloud in system preferences .

Click on keep on Mac .

Enter the Apple ID and password and click on continue .

The Apple ID is completely removed .

Everyday Mac user write down the web mail account , iCloud account , wireless network / base station passwords in their diaries ( how many passwords are used 8 to 10 ) , make a habit of saving in diaries avoid using third party apps to store keychain password , these can corrupt iCloud keychain and system keychain .

If you had lost passwords once again reset them on server accounts https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487

For web accounts if gmail services is used https://support.google.com/mail/answer/41078?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en&oco=0

( a ) Open system preferences > click on iCloud and click on sign out , you can see a window stating do you want to keep a copy of your iCloud data on this Mac before signing out ? The boxes iCloud Drive , contacts , calendars , reminders are checked by default - so click on keep a copy .Immediately click on stop updating and continue , a pop up window will appear are you sure you want to stop updating and continue with sign out ( any documents not updated to iCloud Drive , will be moved to a folder named “ iCloud Drive archive in your home folder on this Mac ) so don’t click on “ cancel “ but " click on continue with sign out ."

A pop up window will appear . Do you want to keep a copy of safari passwords on this Mac ?

( 1 ) Delete from Mac ( 2 ) cancel ( 3 ) keep on Mac .

in the initial stage you had set up iCloud Keychain in Mac and iPhone see these https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT204085

What happens when I turn off iCloud Keychain on a device?

When you turn off iCloud Keychain for a device, you're asked to keep or delete the passwords and credit card information that you saved. If you choose to keep the information, it isn't deleted or updated when you make changes on other devices. If you don't choose to keep the information on at least one device, your Keychain data will be deleted from your device and the iCloud servers.

So it depends , if you had not clicked on keep a copy of copy to save passwords then they had deleted from the device and iCloud server .

Thanks for your reply. The sign-out process is slightly different on Catalina. But since I didn't choose to save a copy on my Mac when signing out, I figure I lost it all. It doesn't make any sense to me why I would need to keep a local copy of something that is supposed to be synched on the cloud and that cloud copy should be the one that prevails. Also, Keychain Access should have the feature to let one restore the data from an earlier cloud backup. Lessons learned and I will go back to a third party password app again.
