WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH SPACE TO DO UPDATE AND RESTORE

I have forgotten the password to my phone and I want to restore and update but there isn't enough space on the phone

You don't update, you put the device in recovery mode and restore as outlined here If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
