If I set up two factor authentication and my apple id is being used by my family in family sharing will they be required to enter a code that is provided on my secure device? For example my wife wants to buy a movie on her iPad and does so using family sharing and my Apple ID. Will she be prompted for a code that only I have access to?
It won't affect their ability to purchase anything unless you have added restrictions to Screen Time or set up Ask to Buy.
If everyone is using your AppleID, then you’re not using family sharing. You’re all simply using one account for everything - yours.
Everyone should always have their own AppleID. Family sharing is designed to allow sharing of content, while everyone uses their own AppleID for Apple services.
Two factor-authentication is related to each Apple ID separately.

Yes I realize this now. I replied to Michael Black below. Thanks for your response. Im just worried it will affect their purchasing ability since I am the organizer. I don't want to be a bottleneck.

If you are using Family Sharing, why does she need to use your ID? She, and the other family members, should be able to use her/their ID.
