AppleCare for Mac

Hi All,

If I wasn't able to buy AppleCare within the 60 days for my Mac can I buy it within the year? I'm being told no but support case article below states I can? Not sure why I'm being told no over the phone when I called Apple.

TIA!

There isn't much sense in trying to argue about documents that are drawn up by lawyers.

However, here are the various products available in the US (note the Applecare + for macs):

Scroll down on this one to see which products Applecare + is available for:

and the exact terms:

All of these are for the US.

I think the key words are "where available" in the excerpt below from Buy an AppleCare plan - Apple Support

AppleCare+ can be purchased within 60 days of your device purchase where available. In Japan, AppleCare+ can be purchased within 30 days of your device purchase. AppleCare Protection Plan can be purchased within 1 year of your Mac purchase where available.

I don't believe AppleCare is available any more in locations where AppleCare+ is now available.

Due to the current environment, unfortunately allocated money to more important resources. They are stating that internal document states not in the US, which I'm confused since they state in the line above in that article that Japan has 30 days. It's to broad and I'm kind of frustrated that it used to be that if you buy an Apple product you could purchase it within a year before the limited warranty ran out.

Edit: They consider AppleTV a Mac under that line, stating that AppleCare Protection is for a Mac but it's for the AppleTV. Saying an AppleTV is a Mac, and Mac is not a Mac under AppleCare Protection.

Did Apple give you a reason why you can't purchase Apple Care? The only thing I see in the link you provided that to put an exception on buying coverage within a year is 'where available' which i would think would be in reference to countries and nothing else...

In countries where AppleCare+ is available, AppleCare is not available. There was a short term exception to that when AppleCare+ was first made available in the U.S.
