Not receiving messages on my watch!!!!!!!

I have a brand new Apple watch 5 and do not receive messages. Occasionally one or two come through but most of the time I don’t get anything. I just got this watch on Monday. I’ve gone through these steps multiple times. I get notifications & everything else. RIDICULOUS. Of I can’t get help directly from Apple Support.
