New i-phone SE vs I-Phone 6 hands free car use.

I have a new i-phone SE and plugged in car play works fine. But if I don’t use plugged in car play my phone does not automatically connect via bluetooth. My I-Phone 6 worked either way. Can the new SE do the same?

iPhone 6, iOS 12

You might need to check the car stereo settings and see if there's an auto connect option for a device. It may still be remembering the old device and trying to connect to that one instead of the new SE.

The Phone itself does not have that option. It will connect to any bluetoth devices it has previously paired with by default if it can see them.

Thanks, Yes it is the SE 2nd gen and I thought it should but if I don’t use connected Car Play I have to manually connect my SE via bluetooth every time I start my car and the I-Phone 6 would automatically connect for hands free without using Car Play. Do you know if there is a settings for just using auto connect hand free instead of Car Play?
