After an update this morning, my new iMac will not accept my password. Instructions say "Choose Terminal in the Utilities menu." How do I access Terminal_

After an update this morning, my new iMac will not accept my password. Instructions say "Choose Terminal in the Utilities menu." How do I access Terminal...Also the keyboard changed. I cannot write a question mark.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Somewhere in there I think it tells you to boot into Recovery.

Once booted into Recovery, choose "Terminal" from the Utilities menu.
