Apple Watch Series 2 42mm Stainless Steel - Display popped loose

I'm needing some advice about repairing my model A1758 watch. I bought it used a few months ago, in very good physical condition. It's still in great shape and everything works well, but the display has completely popped loose. I only have a very few authorized repair options in my area, and none of them seem to be able to help—all they can tell me is that the warranty is long expired, and I'll have to send it in to Apple for replacement, at a cost of $249.

I'm handy and typically try to fix everything myself, and I'm looking at some of those options online (replacing the adhesive strip, for example). But, I need a recommendation about the battery, if it should be replaced at this point or not - ? The battery doesn't look hugely swollen to me, but I could be mistaken... I can confirm that the battery life of the device is satisfactory; I usually get about 2 days of use, before needing to charge.

I've included some photos for evaluation. Appreciate the help, any suggestions or recommendations. I bought this primarily to use for running/jogging, and I've hardly been able to do that, yet!

Just following up on my thread here, for those that come after me.

I purchased an iFixit repair kit (Battery Replacement + Force Touch Gasket w/Adhesive) and, after scanning their excellent online repair-guide, quickly realized that my predicament was different than I originally understood: the display had not come completely off my watch—instead, the very top glass layer of the display had cleanly separated from the the curved outer edge of the display. (This kind of insight was what I would hope to learn from the so-called experts, when posting a forum question and detailed photos, by the way.)

Basically, it was no longer a question of buying the correct adhesive strip and reattaching the display; a "true repair" was going to involve purchasing a brand new display unit. Which is just way too much money for a used watch, frankly. (Not to mention, this whole predicament never should have happened. Any watch that sells for hundreds of dollars should be built to LAST.)

So, I made the best of it: popped in the brand new battery, quickly/carefully super-glued the display back down into position, and then securely clamped the whole thing for 24hrs. After a good cleaning and polish, the watch now works and looks as good as it ever has in my possession, and I intend to wear it in a protective case/band for the rest of its natural life.

The end.

Thanks for your reply, rkaufmann87.

I'm not interested in paying $249 to have the watch replaced by Apple, at this time—I could buy another nice S2 for less than that, easily. I am, of course, investigating the ifixit.com options, which is why I presented the photos and posed the battery question.

Anyone able to comment on the appearance/condition of the battery in the photos?

Not a problem, the link I provided has instructions for all the series, just click the Series 2 instructions and you can take it from there. If you decide you don't want to tackle the work (it's not easy!!) you may want to consider an Apple refurbished watch. If you have never bought any Apple refurbished products they are identical to new, come with the same 1 year warranty as new and are also eligible for AppleCare + and finally can save a lot of money. If you don't find what you want, check often as inventory changes very fast. I just bought a refurbished Series 5 and am extremely happy, I do the same when buying Macs and Apple TV's. The only Apple devices I buy new are iPhones.
