Macbook Air 2020 Touch ID Problem

What happens when you try to use Touch ID and you're connected to a power cable?

Do you see an error message? If so, what does it say?

Which macOS version is installed on the Mac?

Thanks for taking the time to try the SMC reset and for getting back to us with those details. Do you recall when this behavior started? Have you recently made any changes or updates to the Mac?

Try setting up a new user account and test for the behavior there: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

If the issue isn't present in a new user, try starting your Mac in safe mode and test again: How to use safe mode on your Mac
