HBO Max

If you have Apple TV HD or 4K model (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200008) you can download the HBO Max app. Go thru the same sign in process you did for your HBO Max on iPad and you should be able to watch it on your television. Apple TV 3rd gen and older models don't offer the HBO Max app in the App Store for those devices is my understanding so you can't watch HBO Max on older Apple TV models.

After downloading the HBO Max app for your iOS or tvOS device, you need to sign in to the app in order to watch HBO Max content

1) Existing HBO for Apple TV Channels subscriber, you select “Already subscribed? Sign In”

2) Select “Sign In Through TV or Mobile Provider”

3) In the list of TV Providers, for HBO subscribers to Apple TV Channels you select “Other TV Providers”

4) Select "Apple TV" as the provider

5) Click Continue to the message HBOMAX wants to use HBO.com to Sign In

6) And then you are finally present with the message to enter your Apple ID to watch HBO Max subscription 

I subscribe to HBO through AppleTV+ app. I understand HBO Max wants you to use their own app, and I can get HBO Max app to work, and connect to my HBO subscription on my iPad. Is there any way to get the HBO app on my AppleTV device (Model A1469), so I can watch HBO Max on my television?

Agree. Older Apple TV model A1469 doesn’t seem to be compatible with HBO Max and now I am finding out that Disney + is a challenge. Unfortunately I may have to purchase the upgraded and latest model.
