Deleting text messages permanently on iOS

How do I permanently delete text messages on iOS ? I will be selling my iPhone 6 to a friend.

I suggest that you create a full backup of that old iPhone, then perform these steps:--> What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
