Check with BMW to see if they are aware of the issue. You can also report it to Apple via www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
I've not experienced a problem with Bluetooth in my Mercedes-Benz. Have you tried removing the phone from the car's list and the car from the phone's list and try to pair again. Another troubleshooting step is on the iPhone go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings, then attempt the pair again. Be aware that will also remove your wi-fi passwords and they will need to be added back again.

BMW doesn’t use CarPlay. The connectivity was fine until iOS 13.5 update.
the phone does connect to the car, but there is no volume when a call is answered
I can play iTunes in the car Via bluetooth on the phone
seems to be an Apple software issue as my wife’s iPhone 8+ is having the same problem
I’ve deleted phones from the car and the pairing on the phones. Restored all, and same issue exists.
Will give it another go to tomorrow starting from scratch.
ive posted on a BMW forum to see if anyone else has had the issue
Depending on the year and model of your BMW, you may be able to update the Bluetooth software yourself. Go to www.bmw.com/update. Enter the full VIN and if there software you can install, it will be listed. Follow the instructions on the page to upload to your vehicle.
My new iPhone SE 2020 Radio or music will not play (wirelessly) through my phonak marvel hearing aids when I try to pair it via Bluetooth. Before this I had the previous model of iPhone SE and it was able to pair easily with the same hearing aids which worked fine. Has anyone else experienced this problem and can anyone advise me how to rectify the problem? Thanks
I have a similar issue with my iphone SE 2020 and my land rover discovery sport
the phone will connect via bluetooth, but will disconnect during a call, etc
i have had the update at the land rover garage and the issue is still there.......i am quite frustrated now as it's a huge inconvenience
I have exactly the same problem with two Toyota's, 2013 & 2018. Used to work but then started getting 'scratchy' like a handset phone cord on the ma bell (POTS) telephone. Good RF (Bluetooth) connection but something baseband (the audio circuit). It could be the ear bud (headphone) jack. Whatever it is, it started end of 1st quarter this year.
Okay, good luck.
