Quoting from the linked article, ”Legacy system extensions and the apps that rely on them continue to work today. But now is a good time to contact the developer to learn whether an updated version of their software is available or planned. The developer can also explain how to remove or disable the extension, and the consequences of doing so.”

Put differently, the associated app will continue to work on Catalina, but it will not work on the next macOS release after Catalina.

To upgrade to the next macOS release after Catalina, you will need to acquire an app an upgrade from the app developer, or migrate to a different app that does not require this mechanism, or to retire or replace this app.

Pending the completion of that app upgrade or that app transition, you will want to avoid upgrading to the macOS release after Catalina.

If you are unfamiliar with the app or with the app developer using this legacy kernel extension mechanism, post a screen capture of the dialog box, and download and run the EtreCheck tool. Then open a new reply here and then press the button that looks like a printed page to get a text input box large enough to paste the hardware and software configuration report here. From that, we may be able to identify the developer. From that, you can then contact the app developer, and learn what plans (if any) might be in place for the app.
