As an initial step to identifying the problem, you should restart your router, printer and other client devices (such as your iPad) - in that specific order.

To restart your router, disconnect power and wait for at least 30 seconds, then reconnect power. Allow your router to fully reboot - then reboot other devices in the stated order. This sequence ensures that devices are correctly registered by your router and local IP Addresses assigned (via DHCP).

If a restart doesn’t resolve the problem, your WiFi Router may be blocking broadcast network traffic between your WiFi client devices.

To improve efficiency, some routers can block/filter certain types of network traffic between connected devices or network ports. This can impact some services, such as AirPrint. If your router is blocking or otherwise manipulating network traffic, this is not a fault of your Apple devices.

In your WiFi router settings, look for a setting that controls traffic between devices, for example, IGMP Snooping or PSPF.

Ah pure genius thank you - I have done all that you suggest / not necessarily in the order you stipulate - which I will do when it’s not so late.

But...... I am on a 97% faultless internet system the envy of my city cousins - I am in rural Australia and on a great system called Fixed Wireless - and I am certain your router suggestions will be the fix. I’ll check as you suggest and directly with SkyMesh the vendor.

May be I will have to stick with my MacBook USB connection to the printer and have to forget direct wifi from my devices - which will be a shame I run my whole business & social life off iPhone & iPad .

Again many thanks your courtesy & advice. Much appreciated - I’m not as mad as I thought !!

cheers & stay safe.
