iPhone eternally calculating "Used Space"

Could someone please explain what is going on here? I detest syncing my iPhone since Apple decided to square the wheel and remove the process from iTunes. I tried to see how long it would take for "Used Space" to be calculated (bottom left). I've had to give up after 510 hours (just over 3 weeks). Is there some point to this "Used Space"? What is it supposedly calculating? Why is it seemingly in an infinite loop? I would be thankful for any help with this!

Hi musenheddo,

Thanks for your post! I see when syncing your device, "Used Space" seems to be calculating forever. Other or "Used Space" is primarily made up of cached data, system files, updates etc.

As to why it is taking an extended time to calculate that data, try restarting both you Mac and iPhone then test:

Restart your iPhone

How to turn your Mac on or off

Take care!
