iMac. Replacement of RAM resulted in a dead iMac.

I recently replaced RAM in my iMac (late 2013), and of course I forgot to disconnect the power cable. Something was shortened and computer died. Now it won't start at all.

What could it be and how to test components inside? I have another iMac but I don't want to tear apart the working mac and try different components one by one..

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

I understand your iMac won't turn on at all. No signs of life.

Begin with If your Mac doesn't turn on.

Read and follow each of its steps, including all the links within it, all the way through and including Step 4, which directs you to:

If your Mac starts up to a blank screen

Read and follow each of it steps also, all the way through and including the end, which takes you to:

"If you still need help, please contact Apple Support."

That's all you can do.

A quick google search, finds the instruction at > Install memory in an iMac - Apple Support

Something was shortened and computer died. Now it won't start at all.

The Power Supply, the Memory Controller, the Logic Board, etc.....?

What could it be and how to test components inside?

It will need to be tested by an Apple Authorized Technician with the proper diagnostic tools and training.
