How can I check the sim locked status of my iPhone 4S with no sim card?

I am trying to sell my old iPhone 4S on ebay but I want to say whether it is locked to a carrier or not.

According to most forums online you can check this in settings but since there is no sim card in it the "Cellular" and "Phone" options in settings are greyed out. Is there any way to get into these without a sim card?

Otherwise I think my only 2 options are to buy a cheap sim to test it or to pay for an online IMEI checker.

Hello,

Without a SIM card, the only option is to use an online IMEI checker (like you said)

I tried https://imei24.com/ and it worked with my iPhone. You’ll need your IMEI number for this, just dial *#06#

If it doesn’t work, then there are plenty more.
