Final Cut Pro X Free Trial

Hi everyone. Last week I started the free trial for Final Cut Pro X and I think it's super fun. So fun, in fact that it inspired me to order a new MacBook Pro 13" which will arrive next week. I'm super stoked because I've been using an early 2015 MacBook and it's time for an upgrade.

My question is this: Does anyone know if the free trial for FCPX will transfer over to my new MacBook when I get it? I'm not sure if the trial countdown 'timer' is attached to my old (current) MBP or to my email address. I'd like to mess around with the free version a little longer before I decide if I want to invest $300 in the full version.

Stay cool.

Cool, thanks! I'm planning on migrating everything and don't mind if it's still running. I only have a week into the 90 day trial so no biggie.

I have Catalina on my 2015 MBP and the trial works fine other than running really slow with 3D titles and stuff. Is this specific to the 2020 MBP, I wonder? I'll look it up in the forums.

Thanks again for your help.

It depends how you migrate. If you migrate everything it will probably be started already. If you do a clean install and reinstall the applications, the clock will probably reset. I haven't tested this. The counter is not set to the email address.

A word of caution. The 2020 MacBook 13" will not work properly at this time with FCP and Catalina. It might need a software update or firmware update. The problem's widely reported on the forum.
