Restore from previous backup

Hi I think my WhatsApp was hacked and my chats were deleted. How can I retrieve them through my previous backups with Iclouds. The daily back up on WhatsApp and Iclouds drive was on and active the entire time but somehow all my chat history is gone.I tried the usual steps to restore my history but it shows that there’s nothing !
