Weird charging problem.

Since last Mac update almost after every time I charge my iPhone with the MacBook charger (87w), the laptop won't charger, I have to manually reset it (option+control+shift), and after that is charging it. Restart does not help. I shouldn't charge both devices with the same adapter or is a software problem?

Hello RubenTlk,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your mac not charging.

Next time you have an issue, please ensure you go through all the troubleshooting in this help article: If your USB-C power adapter isn't charging your Mac notebook - Apple Support

The reset you mentioned is the SMC reset, and it does help with battery and charging: How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

If you constantly need to reset the SMC and can link it specifically after you charge your iPhone, you may want to make an appointment at an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Store to have your charger, Mac, and iPhone inspected: "Get your Mac notebook and power supply evaluated

Whether your Mac notebook with USB-C is in or out of warranty, you can bring it to an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store for evaluation. Be sure to bring your Mac, your USB-C power adapter, and any USB-C cables you use for charging."

In case this is related to something on the computer, ensure you have a backup prior to taking the computer in to your appointment: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support

Also, you will need to have your Apple ID and password handy when visiting a service provider. Check this help article under the bottom section titled "Get ready for service" for other items to ensure you are prepared: Mac Service and Repair - Apple Support

"Get ready for service

Before you return your Mac to us, be sure to enable FileVault and back up your data. You may need the backup if your Mac needs to be reformatted during the repair process. Apple isn't responsible for lost data.
