Unable to type accented e

I understand you have been unable to type accent marks with letters on your Mac. I know how important it is to be able to use correct character accents when studying a foreign language. I'd like to help you out with this.

The method you use to add an accent mark about the letter "e" should still work if it's working to add them to other letters. Try restarting your Mac: How to turn your Mac on or off. This is a simple step that can solve a lot of different issue. After it's been restarted, try using option to add an accent mark. Also, see if you're able to add an accent mark using the accent menu instead. You can access that menu with the steps in Enter characters with accent marks on Mac, specifically this section:

"Use the accent menu

1. In an app on your Mac, press and hold a key on the keyboard—for example, a—to display the accent menu. The menu isn’t shown if a key doesn’t have any possible accent marks.
2. Select a character in the menu—for example, á.
3. You can also press the number key shown for the character, or use the arrow keys to move to the character, then press the Space bar.

Accent marks aren’t available in all apps."
