inputting both password and verification but not working

created a apple id and password tried to log into my ipad with it. It wont work, keeps sending me a new verification code. But nowhere to input the verification code. So I would enter both password and verification code into the password box. then It will tell me that my password is wrong. What do I do? How can I get into my account on my ipad? I have been successful on my computer so I am not sure what is the problem?
