apple pencil skipping and glitching

i've had both my ipad and my apple pencil (1st gen) since December 2019. it started doing this a few days ago. i’ve tried reconnecting and disconnecting it multiple times, but every time, the glitch comes back after a few minutes of use. at first, it was just the glitching, but now it’s also skipping. i’d say the glitching happens every 1/5 times i make a stroke. i’ve put some pictures for what it looks like when this happens. in the first one, i was only drawing straight lines, and in the second one i just wrote the word “test” over and over. i also don’t have zoom on, and like i said, it’s never done this until only a few days ago. is there any other way to solve this without buying a new pencil entirely? (it’s not a glitch with the app i’m using either, it’s also happening in other apps like the notes app too, so i know it’s not an issue with the apps but my pencil)
