iPhone camera has red spot on actual viewfinder and after I’ve taken an image.

So I just got my iPhone XS Max brand new and I noticed there was this red spot when I was about to take a photo and I thought it was lens flare, but how could it have been as when I moved and turned my phone it stayed in the same spot and only went away when I changed over to the telephoto camera. Is this a hardware issue? Is there dust on the actual camera sensor?
