Voice Memos

I have an iMac Desktop, 10.15.4, purchased three months ago. I've just tried to use Voice Memos but, was unsuccessful.


  1. Clicked on the Voice Memos app to open;
  2. Pressed the big red button in the bottom left corner of the app screen;
  3. The "New Recording" window opens but, the recording never starts.


Any ideas?

I had the same issue and just solved it with apple care. It's a system bug in catalina.

You have to turn sound effects on in the system pref. I put the volume to 0 so it doesn't make a difference.
