Unlocked iPhone SE

I opened up my box for my new iPhone SE and noticed there was a pin for the SIM card. Does my SIM card from my current iPhone, iPhone 7, need to be placed into new phone for transfer of data? Or does the new phone come with a SIM card?

iPhone 7, iOS 13

You can take the sim out of your iPhone 7 and insert it into the new SE and you'll be activated with the same number. There is no data other than your cell number on the sim card. If you don't want to use the sim from your previous phone, you'll have to contact your cellular provider to activate the phone using the new sim. It's far simpler to just swap the sim.
