I need some help bros

I got an AppStore and iTunes gift card and I successfully redeemed it and it said it was added to my apple id balance, yet every time I try to make a purchase it asks me for payment method verification and when I select my apple id balance it only gives me the options to redeem or add funds. why can’t I select it as my payment method ? What do I do?

If you add a credit card, funds that have been added to your Apple ID will normally be used before the credit card is charged. You do not have to select them as a payment option.
