Tags or Keyword for iOS Photos app

Is it true there is still no way to tag or keyword your photos in Apple Photos on your mobile device?

This seems like a very easy thing to make happen, and a very BIG hole in the product.

After many years of using Apples iCloud service to store my photos I have a ton of photos. Over 200gb worth. it’s a HUGe pain to find things if they can’t be tagged, titled nor add a keyword.

Forcing a user to their MacBook to do this is not an answer.

This feature has been asked for for over 6 years here at the forum. What gives Apple?

Example: I’m out with friends. Want to show them an awesome pic my super iPhone took and I take FOREVER to find it because it has no title or keyword. But eventually I do. I don’t have my Mac handy at the bar...so I can not tag nor title this pic. that’s it. I just have to let this pic slide back into obscurity until the next time I want to show it to someone. And I go through the whole process of scrolling my fingers off to find it.

To that I say.....C’mon man!

That is unfortunately the current state, since iO9 came out and killed iPhoto iOS. Previously, on iOS 7 and 8 we had everything needed to tag photos on our iPad or iPhone. We could add titles, add tags (like keywords), create even smart albums based on the tags and the metadata have been displayed in iPhoto, even filenames, pixel size, and more. We could create slideshows and journals with text annotations and publish them on iCloud. I am now using my iPhone as a book reader, but not to work with photos.

All this is gone in Photos iOS. We can add titles with third-party apps (Metapho, ViewEXIF, Investigator), but we cannot see them in Photos.

I am doing all tagging on my macs. When I add a keyword on the Mac, I can search for it on the iPhone and iPad.

As a work-around on the iPhone - instead of assigning a keyword - add the photo to an album named like the keyword you want. Then search for the album. It will work, if you are very frugal with albums and use this only fora few important tags.
