Keywords with iPad Pro

I want to organize my photos with keywords using my iPad Pro during my vacations. Apple took that option away. What is their reasoning for that and what does Apple suggest now? It’s awkward trying to set up Albums for 1,000s of photos when traveling

Did we get keywords back yet for Photos? We used keywords with rules for over a decade. They were perfect to help organize pictures.

What is helpful about keywords is that we can select our same common keywords to group our pictures. With captions, we need to ensure that the spelling is identical with no typos.

Of course, Apple executives have Macs, and keywords produced on a Mac can be searched in iOS or iPadOS. Smart Albums on a Mac can be used to generate regular albums for organization in iOS.

But, especially for the iPad, we all hope these things become fully available for the iPhone and iPad.

Feedback - Photos - Apple

No way to know why it was removed. Apple has not disclosed there reasoning behind that decision and we cannot discuss Apple decisions here.

The Photo search however is now very powerful, and you can search for items, features, locations, and even readable text in the photos without needing keywords.

You can also add captions to the Photos, and the search will also search in that text.

To add a caption, tap on the (i) icon at the bottom, and then on Add Caption.
