iPad Pro 10.5 Random Restart / Restart Loop
I have a iPad Pro 10.5 (in an Otterbox with no known impacts/drops) that had iOS 13.4 and it worked fine. Some time after I updated to iOS 13.4.1 the issues began (only in sleep mode, it’s fine when in use).
Issue 1: Random restarts when in sleep mode, I’ll just glance down and it’ll be restarting showing the Apple logo and then have a full battery %.
Issue 2: This is when it gets worse, sometimes it gets stuck in a constant restart loop. Showing the Apple logo as it restarts, then a horizontal line flashes across the screen and it starts over by going to a black screen, Apple logo, and then the line flashes again. This can happen several times, force restarting seems to stop it usually. Sometimes it decides to act like the battery is dead and I have to plug it in to get it to turn on and the battery will be close to full.
Fix Attempt 1: Backing up, resetting my iPad, then downloading my iCloud backup.
Fix Attempt 2: After updating to iOS 13.5, it seemed to lower how often it happens and the single restarts are now more common than the restart loops.
Is it a hardware issue with the motherboard, battery, etc.? Or software? What should I do?
